On the fifth of October, GCC Student News holiday journalist, Aden J. Chua, conducted an interview with one of the officers of Student Engagement and Inclusion (SEI), Tara Freitag, about the two Halloween events connected to GCC: The Boo Ball, and the Trick-Or-Treat Event at the Muckdogs Stadium.

ADEN: What exactly is Boo Ball all about, and can you give me some basic information?
TARA: Boo Ball is our Halloween Dance, with lots of dancing and decorations.
It is one dollar per ticket, and our dress theme is Red Carpet.

ADEN: What activities go on at the Boo Ball?
TARA: We have a photobooth in which students can take home photo strips. We print T-Shirts with a Boo Ball brand. We also host contests for costumes, limbo, and dance. Our Halloween Dance Team performs at 9:00pm.

ADEN: When is this event?
TARA: It is scheduled for Friday, October 27th from 8:00pm-11:00pm.

ADEN: What kind of refreshments do you offer at the Boo Ball?
TARA: Our refreshments include Cocktail BBQ Meatballs, Mac-n-Cheese Bites, Pizza, Water + Lemonade for drinks. We also have halloween candy and a popcorn machine.

ADEN: What is the history of this event?
TARA: Boo Ball originated 5 years ago. It’s always been down in the Student Union. The SEI Office puts it on every year.

ADEN: Does Boo Ball do anything for charity?
TARA: Right now, there is nothing linked to charity, but it would be a good idea for next year!

ADEN: Are you in need of volunteers?
TARA: We need anyone that is willing to help decorate or set up the Union from 4:30pm – 7:30pm before the dance starts.

ADEN: And what about the trick-or-treat event at the Muckdogs Stadium?
TARA: On Saturday October 21st, the Muckdogs Stadium hosts Trick-or-Treat events for all families from 3:00pm-6:00pm. We are searching for volunteers to dress up in costume and pass out candy at the event. Transportation to and from GCC is provided.
