And a 5, 6, 7, 8… The GCC Dance & Cheer team is back in action as they kick off this year’s season with rehearsals. Successful auditions took place just a few weeks ago with dancers, cheerleaders, acrobats, and performers of all types trying out. With a mix of new and veteran members, coached by Tara Freitag, the nine member team is gearing up for a busy year of dance and cheer. Currently, the team is working hard to prepare for performances at home basketball games, as well as planning to compete in dance competitions in the spring semester. Last year, they made waves by performing for over 7,000 people at a Rochester Knighthawks game, a nationally televised event, and this year, they plan to do it all over again!

On top of rehearsals, the team is fundraising for uniforms, getting ready to host GCC’s Got Talent, a show that will be held December 3rd, and preparing for many other campus events. One of the hit fundraisers of the year, the team will be hosting “Pie a Faculty” for the InterClub Market held November 20-22. With professors ready to get messy and show their support, this event is not one to miss. The members are working hard fundraising to help afford shiny new uniforms-literally! The team will be customizing their uniforms with rhinestones to add a touch of sparkle representing each member’s personality. With brand new uniforms and poms, the team is more than ready to take on the season with sparkle and a smile.

GCC Dance & Cheer Team is a hardworking, audition based group that loves to dance, cheer, perform, and sparkle!
